The Brief

Alan Walker’s team reached out looking for a quick turnaround on a typography animation for his track Blue ft. Ina Wroldsen. They had previously hired my good friend Omar to create a custom typeface, for which I was directed to use on this project. The background drone footage was provided by the Alan Walker team.

Shamelessly this was my first ‘full length’ typography for a music video, and I remember this project being a great chance to put my fear of f-curves and speed ramps to rest. I was able to knock this out in just under 6 hours total, with a single round of revisions.

The Build

The entire project was made in After Effects, with a little Retro Dither on the text matte to add some extra depth.

The Reach

Currently sitting at over 10,000,000 views and counting, this one is without a doubt my most ‘seen’ project to date, and I got the opportunity to meet the rest of the team on a trip to Norway in 2022.
